Terms and Conditions for The Surfskate Academy at Lost Shore Surf Resort Last Updated: November 2024
Welcome to The SurfSkate Academy at Lost Shore Surf Resort. We want to ensure you have a safe, enjoyable and memorable time while participating in our surfskate activities. By booking, participating, or using our surfskate equipment, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.
- General Information
The SurfSkate Academy is an activity offered within Lost Shore Surf Resort designed for recreational use. It allows customers to engage in surfskating on specialised boards within designated areas of the resort.
(a) The SurfSkate Academy is available to anybody that would like to visit Lost Shore Surf Resort.
(b) All participants must sign a waiver and accept these terms and conditions prior to engaging in a Surfskate Academy activity.
- Eligibility
(a) Participants must be at least 6 years old to engage in The SurfSkate Academy experiences. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years).
(b) Participants must be in good health and physically capable of engaging in The Surfskate Academy activities. If you have any medical conditions or concerns, please consult with a healthcare professional before participating.
(c) The SurfSkate Academy is suitable for all skill levels. A member of our team will provide a brief introduction for beginners before using the equipment.
- Booking and Availability
(a) All participants must reserve The Surfskate Academy sessions in advance via The SurfSkate Academy’s website or Lost Shore Surf Resort’s website or at the Resort’s main reception, located in the Hub Building.
(b) A surfskate session lasts 45 -60 minutes. Please arrive on time for your session to ensure we can provide you with the appropriate equipment and deliver the safety briefing.
(c) The SurfSkate Academy is weather-dependent. In cases of adverse weather we will look to deliver sessions in the Events Space, if this is not possible sessions may be rescheduled or cancelled. We will notify you in advance if your session is affected.
- Safety Requirements
(a) Participants must wear the provided helmet at all times. Knee pads and elbow pads are optional (not provided). Participants may use their own helmet if preferred.
(b) All participants must attend a safety briefing before engaging in a Surfskate Academy activity. This briefing will cover essential safety guidelines, rules of conduct and techniques to help ensure a safe experience.
(c) Participants under the age of 16 must have an adult present on-site while they participate. For younger children (under 12), additional supervision may be required on occasion.
- Participant Responsibilities
(a) All participants must follow the rules outlined during the safety briefing and any additional rules posted at the Surfskate Academy. This includes respecting other visitors, avoiding risky manoeuvres and keeping a safe distance from other participants.
(b) Participants must use the provided surfskates and safety gear appropriately. Any damage to the equipment caused by misuse may result in a charge for repair or replacement.
(c) If at any point during your session you feel unwell or unsafe, you must stop immediately and notify a staff member.
- Liability and Waiver (a) Surfskating involves inherent risks, including but not limited to falls, collisions and injuries.
(b) By participating, you acknowledge and accept these risks and agree to hold The Surfskate Academy and Lost Shore Surf Resort, staff, contractors and affiliates harmless from any injury, loss or damage incurred.
(c) All participants must sign a waiver form prior to engaging in The SurfSkate Academy activities. This waiver releases The SurfSkate Academy and Lost Shore Surf Resort from liability for any personal injury, property damage, or other losses incurred while attending Surfskate Academy activities.
- Damage to Resort Property
You agree to use all The Surfskate Academy equipment and treat Lost Shore Surf Resort property responsibly. Any damage caused by negligence, misuse, or failure to follow safety guidelines may result in additional charges for repair or replacement of equipment or property.
- Photography and Media
By participating in The Surfskate Academy experiences, you consent to being photographed or filmed by The Surfskate Academy or Lost Shore Surf Resort or its representatives for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be included in such media, please notify staff in advance.
- Cancellations and Refunds
(a) Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before the scheduled session to receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 72 hours in advance will not be entitled to a refund.
(b) No-shows for a booked Surfskate Academy session will be charged in full.
(c) If your session is cancelled by The SurfSkate Academy due to weather conditions, a full refund or the option to reschedule will be offered.
- Conduct and Behaviour
(a) All participants are expected to behave in a courteous and respectful manner towards other visitors and staff. Any disruptive or unsafe behaviour may result in the suspension or termination of your session, with no refund provided.
(b) Consumption of alcohol or drugs before or during your Surfskate Academy activity is strictly prohibited. Participants under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to participate.
- Modification of Terms
The SurfSkate Academy reserves the right to modify or update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on the Lost Shore Surf Resort website or communicated to visitors directly. The updated terms will be effective immediately upon posting.
- Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Scottish law.
